Dance floor installation

A floor built for dancers, not just for looks

A real dance floor protects dancers and lasts for years. We handle dance floor installation for studios, schools, venues and homes, from Miami to West Palm Beach.

Every floor we build is permanent. It is made for daily classes, rehearsals and long nights of dancing, not for one event.

Kinder on joints

A sprung subfloor gives a little under each landing. Knees, ankles and backs take less of the shock.

Made for South Florida

Humid summers make wood and panels move. We choose materials and expansion gaps with that in mind.

Sized to the room

Studio, ballroom, banquet hall or spare bedroom. Each floor is measured and built for its own space.

What makes a dance floor

Two layers: a sprung subfloor and the surface you dance on

Sprung subfloor battens under new hardwood boards.

The sprung subfloor

This is the part you never see. It flexes slightly under impact, then springs back. That takes stress off dancers' joints during jumps and landings.

The surface

On top goes a surface chosen for the style. Performance vinyl, called marley, gives controlled grip for ballet and contemporary. Hardwood suits tap, ballroom and Latin.

We install both: sprung subfloors topped with marley, and sprung subfloors topped with hardwood. The exact build-up depends on the room, the base and how the floor is used.

A floor laid straight onto concrete has no give at all. That is why the layer underneath matters as much as the finish.

Who we build for

Studios, venues and homes

The base, the surface and the schedule change with the space. Pick the one closest to yours.

By dance style

Which surface suits which style

Most studios teach more than one style. This table is where we usually start the conversation.

How we install

How our dance floor installation works

  1. 1

    Visit and measure

We see the room, measure it and ask how it will be used.

  2. 2

    Check and level the base

We check the slab or old floor and fix high and low spots.

  3. 3

    Build the sprung subfloor

Cushioned layers go down to give the floor its spring.

  4. 4

    Lay the surface

Marley or hardwood goes on top, with tight, flat seams.

  5. 5

    Trims and transitions

Edges and doorways get trims, so no one trips.

Dance floor questions

Can we rent a dance floor for a wedding or party?

No, we do not rent dance floors. We install permanent floors only. For a wedding or party, we build raised floors under tents and over pools. See event floors.

What is a sprung dance floor?

It is a dance floor built on a sprung subfloor, a layered base under the surface. It gives a little under each landing, then springs back. That takes stress off dancers' joints. The marley or hardwood you see sits on top.

How much does it cost to install a dance floor?

It depends on the room, the subfloor, the surface and the condition of the base. For a price, send the room size, the styles you dance and a few photos through the quote form. We visit, measure and send a written quote at no cost.
